Surfacing Contractors Australia has a strong HR focus and the correct selection of industrial instruments is always made in conjunction with our Clients. We have a proactive approach to industrial relations strategy, which contributes to achieving successful outcomes.

Surfacing Contractors Australia is a leading provider of Surfacing products and contracting services to the Education, Sports, Recreation, Childcare and Local Government sectors throughout Australia. As a privately owned, Australian based business employing more than 30 staff, our extensive project capabilities and experienced workforce has allowed us to continually grow our business and achieve an enviable track record for precision and quality of workmanship.

With a true commitment to the value of protecting the health and safety of our employees, clients and suppliers before anything else, Surfacing Contractors Australia has the track record to demonstrate our conviction. In 2010, after working more than 40,000 man-hours we had no lost time injuries recorded and this trend continues.

Our continuous improvement philosophy drives regular reviews and improvements based on the dynamic industrial climate. Our record of industrial harmony is achieved from the ongoing communication with our clients and specialist recruitment practices.

Our Staff

Mark Weber

After an early career in commercial construction and project management, Mark began working in 1991 on the development and commercialisation of recycled rubber based impact systems specifically for playground usage and was soon producing for Australian and international markets. He saw a need to improve the safety and amenity of playspaces and has been working in the industry ever since. Over the past 26 years, he has accrued a wealth of knowledge which he brings to the table with every new endeavour. In 2016, he helped work with the formerly know Sports Contractors Association to incorporate contractors specialising in playground safety and surfacing into their industry organization, resulting in the rebranding of the association to the Sports and Play Industry Association (SAPIA). He sits as a Director on the SAPIA Board.

Nathan Weber

After working on site with install teams part-time throughout high school and tertiary study, Nathan came on board with the company full time in 2013. Successfully completing a Bachelor of Built Environment at the University of South Australia, he is able to bring his project management and contract administration training to use in his role of Operations Manager. Passionate about Sports and Recreation, Nathan is dedicated to trying to find the highest value solution for our clients.

Michelle Pratt

With a background in Administration, formerly responsible for the projects Administration and scheduling for the board of Directors for a leading engineering firm in Australia, Michelle is the primary point of contact in the office. Her work behind the scenes is the reason everything flows so fluidly. She moved to into her position with Surfacing Contractors Australia in 2014 and has not looked back.

Arun Kosh

A background in landscape design and construction led to working in the commercial playground industry which in turn led to him joining the SCA Queensland team in 2013.

Arun has worked on projects in the UK, the Middle East and Asia. This varied and challenging work in the fields of play and recreation means that he has a wealth of knowledge and experience he is only too happy to share.

Steven Lawrence

Manager of Operations, Steve comes from a background in construction and general building and is fully aware of the strict guidelines in the SCA Quality Assurance Procedures which ensures every job is completed to the highest standard.

Having been with the company for over 8 years and qualified in the installation of synthetic grass and rubber soft fall, as well as earthwork preparation and design, Steve’s philosophy is striving for perfection in every job and is constantly looking at new and improved products and methods to offer our clients.

Steve has been fully trained in America on the installation of acrylic courts and has also been trained in nature play, sensory play, play-based learning and Cultural Fitness programs, meaning he has an understanding of what is required.
